Our 10 week old has always had quite a lot of wind but for the last week or two he's so uncomfortable being laid down on his back to sleep he wriggles around in discomfort kicking his legs and flailing his arms and making grunting noises around 30mins after being put down - he will eventually just cry until he's picked up and sleeps fine in our arms. I'm at a loss as to what this is and wondering if there's an underlying issue. His guts seem to be in overdrive every night, if I hold my hand on his tummy I can feel them just continually rumbling- my partner is away with work in 2 weeks time and I'm absolutely dreading it as I get no sleep at the moment unless we take the night in shifts holding the baby. He also has reflux so I have to hold him upright 30mins after every feed.
Does anyone else have any experience like this or advice? It's absolutely unsustainable at the moment.
Thanks

Hi, bless you this sounds tough for you all, I know it's hard now but it will get better.
My little boy was the same. His cause was the reflux and he was just uncomfortable all the time, how are you treating the reflux?. (Keeping upright for 30 mins is helpful) If your little one is formula fed is the teet correct for him?. Also is the formula correct (always check with the health visitor before changing formula though).
Have you tried baby massage?
I used to try with two fingers in a clock wise direction gentle massage the belly then the cycling of the legs before a nap to try and help with reflux, it's calming for you and the baby to be in a relaxed state.
Have a look at the just one Norfolk website there may be some advise you find helpful.
Thanks for your reply 🙂 we were prescribed gavisgon but it actually made the situation worse! His reflux was better but he was so constipated went from pooing twice a day to only once in 3 days so have stopped it - the reflux is better than him being in pain with his tummy/ bowels IMO. He's exclusively breastfed so teat isn't the issue but thanks for suggesting. I do also massage his tummy and cycle the legs which helps somewhat but doesn't solve the issue..
Apologies I had phone issues and couldn't get online, i have heard Gavisgon can cause constipation.
When breastfeeding is he latch on well(not something I was able to do unfortunately) but wondering does he takes in some air causing wind. (If that's possible, that's my logical brain thinking but not sure if that is a situation with breastfeeding, it was for bottle feeding. just one Norfolk have some good resources on breastfeeding may be helpful. Do you still see the health visitor?.
