Need help for my sister

thanks for letting me join. I’m joining for my sister as she can’t eat without choking or throwing up. She won’t go out to eat or even to my house or outings as she’s embarrassed. Also she coughs all the time when she starts talking. Our drs here haven’t helped her. Do you think she has this and what steps should she do and what type of dr should she be seeing?

Hi I would try and get a doctor to listen to your sisters problems as the sooner she gets help and assistances before the out come could get worse , because she must be losing weight as she can’t keep food down, there could be a simple solution or tougher ones further down the line, so I do hope she she gets help very soon.

I would recommend seeing a gastro doctor and insisting on having an endoscopy.

Get to a gastroenterologist ASAP for an endoscopy. Do not wait for covid to ease. IF it is cancer, the choking and vomiting possibly indicates the tumor has grown to such a size that food cannot pass. Make an appointment today.

She’s had an endoscopy And she had a hernia but said they can’t do anything as where it’s located.

Your doctor sould suggest pantoprazole or Esomeprazole (Nexium) as Proton pump inhibator 40 mg twice daily (30 min before breakfast and 30 min before dinner) and 40 mg Famoditine one a day preferable before going bed.Ask your gastro team as my mama has too and prescribed those

Hi, Your Sisters problems sound a lot like mine. I started struggling with meat then bread. I had 3 endoscopic at lo all hospital even had to pay for a consultation as after two endoscopies in 8 weeks all they found was a hiatus hernia that had grown between endoscopies and barriers oesophagus. Nothing to explain the food sticking around breast bone area. There was no dysplasia according to biopsies according to histology . Samples were taken at 37 and 38 cms. The third endoscopy a few months later couldn't pass scope through the gastric junction and biopsies were taken at 40 cms. This confirmed adenocarcinoma at gastro junction 65mm in size. I tell you this not to scare you but to insist on more tests being done for your Sister. Biopsies are testing a tiny sample area so in my opinion should only be used to confirm cancer not to rule it out. I hope your Sister has a better outcome than we did but urge you to push to find the cause. A pet c.f. scan can show cancer the the human eye can miss. I wish you all the best and stay safe.

Definitely get referred to a gastroenterologist. My endoscopy found a hiatus hernia and the biopsies found inflammation but no sinister cells. I choke a lot on food and food sticks in my oesophagus every time I eat. I was referred for PH and manometry tests which revealed oesophageal dysmotilty and chronic reflux (74 episodes in 24 hours) endoscopies doesn’t pick up everything, the PH manometry tests are much more specific. Good luck with everything x
