Is the acid reflux diagnosed by your GP? And seen treated as well? Can we know why you correlating angioplasty with stent to acid reflux? To help us to help you more.

Thank you for replying. My daddy is 86 and diagnosed with oesophagus cancer. He was having bother with swallowing so got stent fitted at bottom of oesophagus. Since fitted he has awful reflux acid. Any advice on easing this. He has been prescribed anti acid tablets
There are a few helpful things you can do for your dad:
Speak with his physician about a PPI - omeprazole, pantoprazole, etc. - these drugs reduce the amount of acid secreted by the stomach and so, reduce acid reflux.
Avoid eating for a full 2 hours before sleeping. An empty stomach greatly reduces the possibility of reflux.
Sleep in a semi-upright position. Prop him up with several pillows or a wedge to avoid lying flat. This positioning is a simple gravity defying remedy and is very effective.
I hope these ideas are of some comfort to you both. Bless you for taking care of your dad and best wishes to you both.
For age of 86 with stent in oesophagus. A word of caution, his digetion and absorption of nutrition may be of concern ath his age. meaning normal advice given to people half of his age doesnt necessarily apply to his condition at par.
Chances are with loading of acid suppressants, he will pick up more anomalies, including natural anti-bacterial protection with the natural acid in his stomach.
As suggested above by others, the avoidance techniques of not lying flat or bending too much will offer more better therapy than medicines on its own.
Stent is installed to offer ease of food swallowing but this has collateral damage of leaving the same food pipe open. naturally the oesophagus is a muscle and not open pipe.
