Hi, Does anybody else break out with a heavy sweating episode during the night, this is during winter in South Africa? Clothes and bed is drenched.
I am now six years post op and, had my oesophagus enlarged with a stent April this year, this was removed after the procedure and, I am eating better even gaining some weight again!
Any ideas about the sweating?

Glad to hear you are gaining weight! No doubt the heavy sweats could be caused by many (benign) reasons.
My family has a history of lymphomas and one of the symptoms I am always on the look out for is particular heavy sweats at night - the doctors have used the very same wording ("bed is drenched") that you have used, so please try to get this ruled out (specifically Hodgkins and Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma).
as already said, there can be many reasons for this. I don't know your age, but can your rule out menopause or post-menopause related problems? My mother suffered from hot flashes and sweats up to her seventies. Would not solve the issue and is a burden, but nothing serious to worry about.
drenched sheets in the night time can also be caused by low blood sugar, Hypoglycaemia. Blood sugar below 4mmol/L is a concern and should be checked and treated.
