Hello Scully

Happy New Year

Tell Dad to think of the chemo as a magic potion that will be trying to stop the thing spreading and shrink it as happened in my case - I am sure he will find that a lot of the possible side effects wont happen.

A positive attitude is essential as I am sure others on this site will tell you so tell him chin up and try to live as normal a life as possible during the treatment

Good luck

Mick

happy new year , don't worry its normal for the chemo to make you feel like shit, but it soon starts to do its work , I noticed a difference with swallowing at my second lot , hope all goes well for you all x

Happy new year to you, my hubby wasn't good on chemo. The down side you can feel like pooh. The good side it shrank his tumour and he was able to swallow food again without it getting stuck. Best wishes hope all goes well.

Best wishes to your father. Try to have something to look forward to during the no-chemo week when he's feeling less rough. Cinema? Drink with friends? Drive in the country? He won't be up to much. Feel-good DVDs always too. Good luck and may 2016 bring a successful recovery.

Hi Scully

Think I'm one of those lucky people who didn't suffer too bad from the chemo side effects (maybe worse on session number 3). The point I'm making is that everyone feels different and reacts different to chemo so a positive mindset from the outset is essential. And yes it is poison in your body, but that poison kills the cancer and makes for far better survival.

Hang in there Scully and tell your father to as well.

Tick last nights New Year off as the very first of many more that he'll hopefully survive.

Take care and best wishes

Mark

Happy new year to everyone. My hubby too started his first session of chemo day before Xmas eve he was very poorly after steroids wore off. He is better now and can now swallow better so by eating more and feeling more confident that it is working has helped. But it has been a scary experience.
