My visit to the GP resulted in an X-ray which was sent to my consultant and he thinks my problem has recurred. Op was 12 months tomorrow:'(

If your consultant has expressed that opinion to you, then he is likely to be right. Really sorry to hear that news and our thoughts are with you.

There may well be some other scans that they will do to investigate the situation and reach a definitive diagnosis.

I do not wish to hold out false hopes, but I know of one case where oesophageal cancer returned, and because it was squamous cell carcinoma, it could successfully be treated by chemo-radiotherapy. Not easy second time round, but they are still enjoying life a couple of years later. So I think that you will need to be asking for further details in due course.

It really is outrageous bad fortune when this happens, and our thoughts are with you, especially in the difficult process of coming to terms with what may well turn out to be bad news.
