Had Stent inserted last week (3 months after op) & have had pain ever since. Although I am now able to eat will I always have the pain until Stent is removed?

I think these questions are always difficult for us to answer in any kind of helpful way. It might just depend on what kind of pain you are experiencing (might it be muscular tension?). If the pain definitely started after the stent was inserted, then it may well be the cause, but this could be indirect - sometimes pain gets felt quite a distance away from the cause of the problem because it tends to travel along nerves, which can be very sensitive. So the pain may, or may not, be caused by the stent.

The good news is that the stent is apparently doing its job.

Stents are an artificial material inserted into the body, and come in different lengths and profiles, so having some 'discomfort' is quite understandable, but I think it would be worth asking about getting it checked to make sure that it has not, say, slipped out of position. I think it might also be worth checking with the hospital about the long term plan for the stent.

I think it might also be worth asking for your GP's advice as they can sometimes be very good at examining you to work out whether, say, movement of your shoulders makes the pain worse or not. Does the pain vary during the day, perhaps linked to periods of swallowing food?
