I haven't tried it, but I do take another antipsychotic called aripiprazole at a low dose, 5 mg, to boost the sertraline.
Antipsychotics such as quetiapine are useful in OCD where SSRIs on their own haven't been effective enough.
I've found the aripiprazole helpful, and haven't had any side effects from it. If quetiapine is prescribed for you, I'd give it a go. If it doesn't suit you then you can always come off it.
Yes I am taking quitapine for the best part of 7-8 yars. Guarantees a full night sleep, perhaps too much,. In my case, a solid 11-12 hours. The psychiatrist wanted to ensure I woke up in a good frame of mind. Nowadays I take half a tablet (half of 100g) and the sleep is somewhat shorter but some 9, 10 hours anyway. No side effects aside sleeping a lot.
Hops this is useful.
Cheers
be well.
Thanks Ulisse...what did you take the medciation particularly for?
OCD, though my psycho 's intention was to give me a peaceful night s rest from which I would wake up in a better mood. Worked pretty well, though I sleep an awful lot. During the last 2 weeks I decided to cut my med to 0.50 g and I slept less without any detrimental effects. Last night though, I thought I would take a 100 g pill again and I slept as usual, then snoozing on for a could of hours I made it to past 13.00 hrs but I got up feeling good, rested and pretty ok as far as moods go.
cheers
Hi, my daughter take this. Her issue was cutting, and the Quetiapine helps curb her "craving" to cut. It has worked really really well for her. She takes it at night because it has the side effect of making her sleepy. She has not had any issues with it.
taking it for 6 months and taking me months 2 try come of it can't sleep since come of it
