For those who may remember my project in 2020 I posted a survey about child resistant packaging to support my work as part of the MedTech SuperConnector programme. I wanted to give you all an update toward the progress that has happened since, and to thank everyone who generously gave their time to fill out our survey. The Safer-Cap project was born out of a need to address the challenges faced by individuals with joint pain when opening any packaging with child resistant closures. I saw that a wide range of people struggle with traditional medicine storage and packaging, which can be particularly challenging for those with arthritis, and am still working on solutions.

We're excited to share some significant milestones we've achieved:

Company Formation: Elddir is now officially founded and operational.

Patent Granted: We're proud to announce that our unique design has been granted a UK patent.

Research: We've completed further research with the help of students from UAL..

Testing: We're in the phase of planning testing with children for our design to ensure it meets the required standards and user-friendliness.

Next steps:

Our journey doesn't stop here. We're gearing up for:

Further Testing: We aim to refine our design based on feedback and rigorous testing.

Seeking funding: So far I have been working on this in addition to my day job and am working towards getting funding so I can work on this full time.

Collaboration: We're looking forward to proposing our innovative cap design to pharmaceutical and packaging manufacturers, hoping to bring Safer-Cap to the market soon

A big thank you to everyone who filled out our survey and helped to show that child safe packaging has to be designed with your needs in mind. Your insights and feedback have been invaluable and I cant wait to get our products out into the world where they can make a difference.
