Has anybody tried morphine patches for their pain? I have looked on NHS website and can only find ones containing Fentanyl.

Morphine patches

I've been using the Fentanyl ones for several years now. I only use the lowest dose and I won't increase it. I can't use any of the other pain relief medications because they upset my IBS or make me too sleepy to function properly.

Hi
Yes, I've been on them. Around 2014 to 2016 (I can't remember when exactly) but they were prescribed by my GP. The patches I was given were Morphine patches. One can be worn, working as a slow release through the skin over the course of anywhere from 24hrs to one week. They are waterproof so are fine in the shower or long soaks in a bath, they don't come off easily. Thug said, when they are taken off, they do leave somewhat of a dark sticky outline (which used to take me ages to rub off).
Speak with your GP, express your views to wanting to try them. While the effects of the patches didn't work for my own pain level at that time, I'm now on liquid morphine (Oramorph).
The nhs website doesn't always list medications a GP prescribes, and I don't even know for sure if the patches are still available. As I said, I was on them four years or so ago, but it is definitely worth asking your GP about.
Hi Kohai, if you ever need to have patches again, nail polish remover gets rid of the sticky residue very easily, but remember to wash the area well afterwards
Tracey, Excellent timing!! I've just been put back on them for 4 weeks to see if they help again. I took the first one off this morning, then got the reminder of the residue sticky they leave behind... I'd forgotten about that. I'll give the nail Varnish Remover tip a try in the morning. Thank you so much 🙏
