The nice guidelines, does the rheumy have to stick to them. Are they exact rules or things that can be altered person to person?

Hi Marnie, I think it's down to the consultants discretion if he feels there is reason not to stick to the guidelines,
After all, they are what they say "Guidelines"!! I believe they are put into place so they may be altered as every person is different in their illness.

They follow them where I am...I am on anti TNF now but had to 'pass' bloods DAS and fail on 2 DMARDS. They don't want you on these drugs unless absolutely necessary plus they're expensive!
Yes I think theres some discretion depending where you are. I know one nhs trust in England had a slush fund so they could keep meds in a crisis
