Hiya tyncwmmarchhywel. If I understand correctly you're only prescribed prednisolone as treatment for your RD. Is there room for your Rheumatologist to increase your current dose of 5mg or is that the highest amount you can take for some reason? It's something you need to discuss with your Rheumy as fatigue is a common symptom of disease activity, or not being very well controlled.

5mg is often considered the highest safe dose, especially for mature women who could be at risk of osteoporosis. Do you take any other disease modifying drugs?

I will only take them in emergencies as they mess with my head, and the risks are too great. But I know some people have no other option.

What other medications are you taking? What other therapies are you using to control pain? I have been on prednisolone 5mg as maintenance for many years now and taking increased dose with flares, but since starting adalumimab (Imraldi) I haven't needed any extra.

I also use many other pain relieving techniques such as distraction - and remembering to take my pain relief regularly so that the pain doesn't build up and then take much longer to subside.
