Prednisolone and stomach bloat

Hi there, I’m now into my seventh week of Prednisolone and although the dose is gradually decreasing (I finish it after 10 weeks) my abdomen is gradually getting bigger. It seemed okay for the first 2-3 weeks but is now becoming quite uncomfortable right are round my waist. The first couple of weeks I actually lost about 4 pounds in weight but I’m scared to weigh myself now! Has anyone else been in this situation and if so how long after finishing the meds did things return to normal? It’s beginning to get me down 🙁

It's a sad fact of taking pred that you have to watch what you eat like a hawk as your appetite increases, your metabolism changes and any extra weight gained will go straight to your belly. Try to fill up on vegetables and less calorific foods and you should get back to normal quite quickly.

Thank you for your reply. I know my appetite has changed I could eat all day, trouble is if I let my stomach start grumbling I get terrible cramps. I have weighed myself today and was surprised to see I haven’t actually gained any weight and yet I feel so much bigger. Hopefully when I finish them I can get things back to normal.
