Maybe you need a chat with the Rheumy nurse for more advice or your midwife will be used to these sorts of questions so why don't you have a chat with them? Good luck, i had IVF for my first two kids, was one of the first in the country and I gort pregnant on the first attempt with both. I was very lucky. then ten years later, of the blue, I got my daughter, with no intervention or treatment!!! So hang on in there,I know its stressful but so worth it. Good luck Axx

Hi, sorry you're having to suffer without meds but good luck with the IVF. Have you thought of trying complementary therapy? Reflexology during pregnancy is becoming increasingly popular with many midwives now beginning to learn it. The UK is sadly lagging behind in research but a recent study in Iraq was very positive. One of the benefits is helping control and reduce the pain during labour. It's also used in palliative care for cancer patients to help with pain so I'm thinking it might help with the RA pain and inflammation. If you do decide to give it a try PM me and I'll point you in the right direction to get a fully qualified practitioner who's done post-grad training in pregnancy and fertility - imperative as you're undergoing IVF as there are times to avoid treatment and times to go for it to help it be more likely of success xx

Have you had any steroids/steroid injections to tide you over? I was on pred and had a couple of the lovely injections in my backside to keep me from flaring too much. Also just a thought, but is 'ibo' ibuprofen as it is an NSAID and I was told to stop them (the NSAIDs I was prescribed) when I went for my IVF.

Yes speak to your Rheumy nurse or the fertility clinic if you can - you may have to speak to both of them as I found that sometimes they weren't really clear what the answer was as they are different specialties...Best wishes.

I figure you'd do just about anything, so I would suggest seeing a naturopath and immediately ditching all gluten and dairy from your diet. I'm taking loads of fish oil with vitamin D3, which I also think helps. Warm baths with epsom salts can also provide some relief.
