I started Methodextrate yesterday. As its christmas , wot are the thoughts on alcohol? Are u allowed a glass of wine or is it best not to?

That's a tricky question. When we start MTX we are advised to limit our alcohol or abstain until it is clear what effects the drug is having.
A lot depends on your dose, your other meds and your general health.
Perhaps a small amount with a meal might be ok. You could buy some fizz with a low alcohol content just to be safe. Or bucks fizz?

I was advised to avoid alcohol completely to start with, until it was clear how I was getting on with the drug, and then after a few months I could relax a bit and have a small amount every week but not on MTX day. The worst thing is binging, as that & MTX apparently don't go well together.
I've actually lost my taste for alcohol really and now find a glass is enough. For Christmas I'm drinking Ikea's alcohol free Glog....like a mulled wine so I drink it warm, and actually water it down a bit as quite heady. But makes me feel as if I'm joining in the spirit of it all. Polly
Schloer juices are very good, no alcohol but look like wine. Grape, Apple, lots of different flavours and you don't have to dilute. Have a good one.
