Have a look at the NRAS site - there is a section for 'Newly Diagnosed' and another for living with it long-term. ARC also has a leaflet on Arthritis and Exercise specific to RA - you can download it from the site as a pdf.

Hello BOB here

We all have these problems, we are frightened to exercise in case we damage always sore joints.

ARC produce a leaflet on exercises, although if that is no good you could ask the GP to refer you to a gym and personal trainer for basic exercise., I understand you may need to pay part of entrance fee

One good excercise is swimming as the water supports your body

The other thing ask to be referred to a pysio they will assist in manipulation and exercise techniques

All the best

BOB

Physio advice, swimming pool (not necessarily swimming, but walking in the water, or just floating or doing other arm and leg movements in the water), and gentle walking are all good, and joining a special arthritis exercise class if you can find one in your area.
