Every six months
Me either
mines every 3 week to 3month as i a fatty liver due rheumatioad arthritis
I had mine done once when I was on a clinical trial involving statins but have not had a fasting blood test since and was recently told i am at such low risk it was not worth checking again. I answered 'don't know' as there were no other responses suitable!
I just ticked the blood test form for a fasting cholesterol on a routine blood test
because I wanted to know.
Never ever had this mentioned since ive been diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis two years ago.
I had it done once with the practice nurse when my BP was high and recently with GP because I asked.
I've never had this done neither at GP practice nor in Rheumy dept.
But it is, and always has been, well within normal limits - so why should it need checking every year? I get the impression it is just a tick box.
I would like to know how RA and cholesterol are related. And whether the component parts of cholesterol are more important than the total. My cholesterol is high, but my triglycerides and LDL are both low.
Hello
I feel that they are making a nice Black Pudding with all the bloods they take from me, It must be good stuff

I got it checked once over here and in then in the States both readings low, so haven't bothered since. my GP doesn't bother about it.
Twice in four years
Never
Should I be checking for cholesterol because of my RA?
Never had it tested
Every six months as I have high cholesterol.
Well I had one test but it wasn't a fasting test. That was last year. Was diagnosed in 1999!
Once in 14 months when treatment was reinstated. Due to have it taken as part of testing to ensure I'm ok to take long term etoricoxib.
Every 3 months in Spain as they formed part of 41 taken as "control" bloods. This was the norm & never fluctuated from mid range. Broken down in these categories
Cholesterol
Cholesterol HDL
Triglycerides
LDL Cholesterol
Never - in 19 years of RA.
I put down dont know because I think I had a fasting blood test a long time ago but I am not sure what for. I was placed on statins along with blood pressure tablets 4 years ago but do not recall having a fasting blood test at the time of diagnosis and certainly haven't had a fasting one since but may have had cholesterol tests done with out fasting.
NEVER HAD IT CHECKED IN MY LIFE
But I have never fasted before it. mined you the test is done first thing in the morning so I not had anything anyhow.
why do we need it tested for ra?
(we should all eat eggs for breakfast instead of making everyone take statins)
I have never had it checked!!
Funnily enough I had a test done today. Actually done twice a year because my GP is keep to keep an eye on things since I'm technically morbidly obese!
* Oops! keen to keep an eye...
