Hi

I started this horrible condition around 8 years ago. My doctor wanted me to go get a mammogram and I was too embarrassed to go because of the sores on my chest. I showed him and he blamed it on my diabetes and didn't offer to give me anything. Then I started noticing I would hit spells when I itched unmercifully, it wasn't an itch I could ignore. I tried to keep my hands off but the itch was intense. I've been to the ER the itch was so bad. They told me I had scabies twice because there is little known about this and it is easily misdiagnosed. I knew I didn't have scabies!

I finally started going to a doctor 6 months ago and she wanted me to go get a mammogram also. I showed her why I didn't want to go and she set me up with a dermatologist that I finally got my answers from. I come home and got on my computer and read up on what she said is a rare skin condition, non curable but hopefully manageable. She put me on Atarax for the itching and Doxyclycline to help with infection. She also prescribed Betamethasone ointment that helps more than anything to clear it up but it will not stop the itching, you need Atarax for that. I told her I didn't want anything greasy and this isn't, it's a vanishing cream. Hope this has helped. Friends, Donetta
