Hey parents, How fast did your child start growing once on pd? We start tonight for the first but now his dr wants to put in a ng tube due to him not being on track with growth. How’s everyone else’s experience with pd or ng tube??

My 9month old just had an NG tube inserted. We were in patient until he had gained 200 grams. He has gained weekly since then and within a week he was noticeable fuller and happier. I was also given the recommendation to add iodized table salt to his milkies daily ( specific dose). The renal nutritionist said it helps them grow. My boy had PUV Dx at birth with hydronephrosis of both kidneys. He has terrible grade 5 reflux so we catheter him intermittently. All this was started around the same time and I think everything has helped him grow.

Also, my son had no appetite so this helps take the pressure and stress out of eating and saving my sanity. I know he is getting the nutrition he needs. All his meds now go in the tube so I don’t have to annoy him with medications orally either. He has a little pump and I just pour the left overs after each feeding in the bag and he plays while he passively feeds. It’s fantastic.
