What types of materials are you looking for? Are they ways to entertain your little one while on dialysis or is to help explain the dialysis process to your child?

What is the age of your child?

Here are some general resources. I'm sure there are many more out there. I just searched the NKF site and youtube and came up with these:

Written information about the kidneys: kidney.org/atoz/content/all...

Tips for parents of kids with CKD: kidney.org/atoz/content/chi...

Diet on Dialysis: kidney.org/atoz/content/nut...

How dialysis works video: youtube.com/watch?v=lNX65X2...

More complicated explanation about kidneys but good graphics: youtube.com/watch?v=FN3MFhY...

Good morning

My son was just diagnosed and he is 14. There were no signs symptoms. I took him to the emergency room because he was throwing up one day and his blood pressure was extremely high. Lot of tests and a week in hospital we are now doing dialysis and a lot medication with hopes of a transplant

I'm sorry to hear all of this. Does your hospital have any sort of way to connect with other patients and families who have been through something similar? It will probably help you and your son to talk to others.

My daughter is 13 now and 12 years post-transplant. She did a year of dialysis prior to transplant when she was an infant. Post-transplant life is so much better. Hang in there and please let me know if I can help with anything else.
