At first time for myself was a dream, but now that we have a better understanding of Nephrotic Syndrome and close friends and family who understand his needs, its much easier. I think a balance of personal life and parenting is hard even if you don't have a child with a special need. But if I don't give myself some time to unwind and destress, it's much harder on us all. I have to take breaks to be able to handle the mood swings with understanding. I have young children still at home (4, 3, &1) so we have "rest time" everyday. The little one naps and the other two play quietly in their room for at least an hour. It used to be my get stuff done around the house time, but now its turned into me time. Take a shower, read a book, relax and play on the phone, just an hour to not think about all the worries of life
