My son was diagnosed at 16 years old, so he was already pretty independent- he's a senior in HS now and has a part time job, so he's out alot. My husband and I both work full time, so we don't get all that much time together during the week. We make sure we spend time with family and friends on weekends when we can - we're friendly with some of our son's friend's parents, so we include them alot in get togethers. But many times we go out with other couples - no kids, and it good to be able to talk about anything with them. I also go out once a month with a group of friends from work ... we also open up and talk about anything, so it's like a therapy session :0) Friends and family support is so important to keep your life balanced.
