I am also on the waiting list. I have had my transplant for 21 years.

Congrats 21 years is a good time. I’ve had my transplant for almost 4 years. I pray I can be blessed to see 21 years. My brother is my donor. How are you doing these days?

I really don't qualify for either choice of answers. I am blessed to already have a donor that matches, but still needs to go through the full work-up of tests to make sure she's able to donate her kidney to me. My donor is my rheumatology nurse practitioner, and she has been taking care of me for 17 years. Extra special ! Ginny H.

Was on PD for 6 years and received my first transplant in 2012. It rejected after a year and had to have it removed. Started hemo dialysis in 2014. It's been 4 years now and tried 4 different transplant hospitals to be listed and I've gone thru the whole work up and was told I was a great candidate, but once they talked to the transplant hospital where i was transplanted they all told me that I can't be listed because it was my fault for losing the kidney. I even had my sister want to donate even though we are not a match and they talked to us about the swap they wouldn't even do that. I thought they are not allowed to turn away a donor? How is it that they tell me I'm a great candidate but won't put me on the list? This hospital is giving me a bad rap and I feel like something isn't right. I'm only 30 and been having to deal with this since i was 17.

May I ask why they think you are at fault for losing the first transplant?

I'm so sorry to hear that. You should talk with the transplant team about what you can do to prove that you can take care of the new transplant. It may be difficult to talk about why the transplant failed, but it may help to open up and discuss that with them and why things are different for you now.

This is a touchy subject for you and I want to tell you that in my life...25 years kidney tx and now with 2nd transplant going on 17 years there can be many reasons why centers wont put you on list again. There are solutions sometimes. Please private message me at louisa.elynn@gmail.com
