On a scale of 0 to 5, how much do you know... - Kidney Dialysis
On a scale of 0 to 5, how much do you know about transplantation as a treatment option for kidney disease?
0, is “I’ve never heard of a kidney transplant” and 5, is “I am considered a transplant expert by others”.
I just got my second transplant on 6/28/24 , my first transplant on 3/20/94 , I was on hemodialysis for 5 years and 9 months . I feel wonderful and have energy to do the things I love. Dialysis kept me alive but it wasn't much of a life. Was tired all the time and had 0 energy. Good luck to everyone seeking a transplant , it is truly life changing .😇😇😇😇😇
I'll be honest. Many, including myself come from questionable, why kidneys were dead. I was diagnosed at 18 with Bergers. Docs said, dialysis at 50, they were right, age 52. Of course at age 18, hell, everyone is invincible, and me being alpha, yep. You guessed it, I partied more than this entire group for 100 lifetimes. Name it, I know it, done it. All said and done. Was an engineer, 30 years. No regrets, but I won't rob someone who has done not lived. Been around the block once or twice, I hope everyone can pull it off after a bad dice toss. Stay strong, have fun, don't go crazy though.
In the dialysis room, it could be 20 maybe 50 folks at times. How many kids you see, more than you wish? Big city, say Los Angeles largest I lived in, I don't care if they want to give me a kidney and they have asked to be put on list, give it to a younger. I've lived more than most. From California, to Hawaii, to Canada, to Mexico to Australia, to my old word Italy. End stage, but I can still walk 3 miles no issue. No cartwheels anymore. lol. Just live your life. I've played my part out with style, many have not.
