Erythropoietin is a hormone that your kidneys naturally make to stimulate the production of red blood cells. If you have CKD your kidneys usually don't produce enough of it. Usually there is a target Hemoglobin that your doctor/nurse try to hit with the injection and will monitor you with blood tests. It's fairly safe afaik.
