That is disgraceful, they are there to support you and help. Take comfort from the fact that he examined your teeth and didn't find a problem so it must be O.K. Take Care Lizzy.

thx lizzy.no i had 2 temporary fillings placed in??(they said i would have to come back in a month, pay again to have permanant ones??) I dont know why they did not place permanant ones in at the time?when i asked her a question about another tooth, that would have taken no more than 5 seconds to answer, she refused, stating that she would only discuss the tooth she was treating, and that if i wanted to ask her a question i would have to book another appointment,(paying £18.50 again)i was utterly amazed and disgusted by this!

I should think you were, did you speak to anyone about it? Who is the head of practice, could they help. I think this is disgraceful and maybe the professional body could help but maybe you don't want the hassle. Good luck. Take Care Lizzy.

Hello

The payment you made was a basic checkup and clean and possibly one filling.

Further treatment would be graded at a higher contribution, hence possibly the thoughtless attitude. Generally a temp filling is what it is and you will need further treatment later. There must be a good reason why She did not fill, Were you a new patient on this practice

Change Dentist! it sounds like he's more for profit than people

This does not sound right Jono, It is the national health service price for an examination and clean of your teeth. That is not the price of a temporary filling. If you have NHS treatment the second price is about £49 and includes examination and all treatment even if you need several fillings or extractions and your examination should establish how much work is needed to be done at the time, that is at the beginning of your treatment only private dental treatment is charged item by item each visit. Change dentist I agree. And if you are on low income apply for help with costs, may even get bit free.

yeah thanks katie.i was willing to pay the extra for permanent work.I went through the needles and the drilling only to have temp work done.i now know, that in about a months time im going to have to do it all again! It was the dentists refusal to answer one question that really angered me though.(btw im not on great wages, but alas im not eligible for any help :(

Change your dentist, this one sounds like a rip off merchant only interested in cash not the patients dental health. There are decent dentists out there, i work for one of them.

I think you should not only change dentists but if you have the energy you might ask you MP to take the matter up or else question it with the local health authority (assuming they are responsible for dental care?).
