I'm unsatisfied with post operative wound care and advice. Do I have a right to change consultant? Where does it state this? thanks

Hello

How far are you down the line with wound care is it not the Community Nurse that is changing your bandages, or are they looking at the wound in the hospital. I would imagine that it would be the nurse who would take out clips and stitches ten days after treatment.

One of the problems you may have is caused by Christmas and a reduced staff over this period. Eventually you will be expected too see the Specialist on discharge, so I do not really think it would be any good changing now.

If your treatment will still be on going you could then ask your GP to change the Specialist then.

Sorry I do not belong to the NHS so the aforementioned is all I can suggest

Thanks for your reply. The op was 4 months ago and stitches are gone. I have not been offered community nurse. We have seen the consultant since and a variety of GP /walk in centre nurses to pack the wound and have had conflicting advice. So as the wound still hasn't healed I think as you say i need to ask the GP for a different specialist but I just wondered what I was actually entitled to do.
