I’m pregnant (18 weeks) and due to see a friend on Monday who’s son has croup (diagnosed yesterday). Is it safe for me to see her? I’m a high risk pregnancy and although cases of croup in adults are rare, I’m concerned about picking up a mild virus/ cough etc.
Anyone got any info on this?
Thank you 😊

I don’t know anything about croup, but I think you need to do whatever makes you feel comfortable. It’s such a journey we’ve all been on and it naturally makes us more wary than we likely should be about things.
I remember when pregnant with my son contemplating making myself sick having eaten swordfish and then realising pregnant women are advised to avoid it. What you are feeling is totally natural!
It’s a tough one. Do you know if you ever had it in childhood? I wouldn’t take the risk. Just postpone for a week or two. Given the current strain on the NHS it’s probably best to be extra careful to avoid needing any sort of medical care or advice. Your friend should understand, especially as she would have been in the same position at some point.
Yes this is what I’m veering towards. I don’t think I have ever had it. His case sounds so nasty too, they almost called 999 because he couldn’t breathe. Thanks for the advice x
