How long after child birth dose your periods return is it normal for them to return after 5 weeks

First congratulations on your baby! For most people it depends if u are breastfeeding - periods may not return until u have stopped feeding. For me personally ( breastfed all 11!!) mine returned when my babies were 28 days.They were normal and regular straight away - after my last son they have gone to a 26 day cycle and stayed that way. We are now trying for number 12. I am 44 btw, enjoy your little one!
Yes, as Ronnie has said, depends if the baby is breastfed. My son is almost 5 months now and mine have not yet returned and I am not expecting them until I stop breastfeeding. I think they can return straight away if you bottle feed.
Yes I am breast feeding my toddler so I didn't get my periods til 16 months after child birth. Was brilliant!
If you are breast feeding but it's still come back this early it's either bad luck or some ladies get like one period but then not another one for months! But if you're formula feeding then that's probably it come back.
mine returned at 13mo, but I don't know how regular they would be because we conceived no 2 after 1 period.
Breastfeeding can delay periods but it's entirely normal for them to return weeks after giving birth. With my first they came back as soon as I stopped breast feeding (5 months after his birth) with my second they came back when he started solids as it meant I wasn't breastfeeding him as much and my third is 1 next week but I discovered I was pregnant again whilst breastfeeding before my periods returned. My sister in law didn't breast feed her oldest kids and hers returned immediately
Everyone is different as demonstrated by the answers here. Mine came back at 6 months having breastfed both babies until they were 10 and 13 months old. Two friends had theirs return weeks after baby was born and they both breastfed. Just like babies we're all different and everyone has a different experience.
I breastfed exlusivkey until Niamh was three months and then did just night feeds to five, and had my first period the last week I was breastfeeding. The first was horrible but the second only lasted two days. 😊 xx
