My 9 month old and me.

I am really having a rough time with my little boy. We have spent a couple of hours apart maximum since he was born.

We have always been close but recently he has started pushing me away, literally!

If i try to comfort him he pushes me away, i can't make him giggle like i used to and when i am holding him and someone else comes along he reaches out for them.

I might just be being hormonal but it is really getting me down.

I know it must feel horrible, but you should be proud that he's so secure in your love that he takes it for granted. He knows you'll always be there for him and is confident and secure enough to be inquisitive about other people and want a bit more independence. Try not to let it upset you - you will always be his mummy and the most important person in his life!

Thank you for replying. I know it's probably a good thing. It is just really starting to get me down and makes me feel rubbish. My confidence has been knocked by it too.

Scoffcat is right. Its much better for children to be independent and sociable rather than insecure and anxious. Xx

My boy is 9mths too. I've spent time apart from him including some overnights and there is always loads of family members around so he does reach out for me quite a lot and still want me more than anyone. However, when my mum comes home from work and says hello to him, he practically steps on my face in his eagerness to climb over me to get to her haha. I know he loves me and overall wants me more. But he loves spending time with others also. Don't let it knock your confidence. You are his number 1 and his only mummy. He's just getting to a point where he wants to explore people and things....we just cramp their style lol x

Lol thank you for that response it made me smile. I know what you mean about the stepping over you to get to others, he does it with my mother in law. My little one is an independent soul and growing up so quickly. X

Try not to worry my daughter is 4 1/2 months old and doesn't like me cuddling her, she's very independent an just likes doing her own thing. Don't take it personally, very thing is so exciting to them they just want to explore and be left alone :) as thy others have said, your his mummy and he will always love you :) x
