The last time I had a bad exacerbation, I was moving very slowly and couldn't leave bathroom trips to the last minute. Well, I'd forget. I'm engrossed in the computer, not paying any attention to my body, and uh oh. Can I make it?

My wonderful Charlie, abused before I got him, picked up on that and started alerting me in plenty of time. He'd tap his head on my knee, and I'd realize "Oh! i need the bathroom." Once I stood up, he'd race ahead of me to the bathroom and then stand guard. There were no accidents after that!

If I'd known how quickly I'd deteriorate, I never would have gotten him, but I am so glad I did!
