Kind of MS related rant, but not really (Trigger warning: mentions of abüse and süicîde):
As some of you know, I am in college, and I was diagnosed this summer with MS. Outside of Economics 100, which I’m taking as an elective, I’m not struggling too much with college. My only issue is my egg donor (I don’t feel comfortable giving them the title of mother). My older brother and all of my friends who also have Caribbean parents tell me to stick it out until I finish college, but I don’t know if I can. She switched from physical abuse to verbal abuse only after I started seeing a therapist.
I can’t focus on my education, mental health, MS, and dealing with abuse. What should I do?
I'm thinking about suing for emotional distress (the physical abuse was not in America)

Call your local abuse hotline number and they may have some suggestions for you and your living situation. There may be a shelter in your area if you feel you need to get out to be safe.
Humbrd, I've been looking into shelters in my city, but so far, none will accept me taking my certified emotional support cat (he helps with my anxiety). I can't leave him with her because she had threatened to beat him ‘jokingly’ when he scratched her rug. I will be calling the hotline, though. Thank you for your input!
You are struggling with many issues, in addition to your college program and MS. Your college health center may be able to offer help or direct you to sources of help in your community.
i come from an abusive origin family. when i was at university, i faced a similar dilemma. here's the thing: if you are able to stick it out, the very least they owe you is a proper start in life which you can get through education... but not at the expense of your mental health and physical well being.
it's a tough choice and i'm sorry you're having to cope with this. first things first, always make sure you are safe.
