Hi everyone I am new here . I live in PA and I was diagnosed 24 years ago and have been on Copaxone for 15 years . Recently had to stop working because I can't stand on my feet for hours at a time anymore . I am bored staying home all the time so I am looking for a new hobby . Anyone have any suggestions ?

Bored,

That is really just a state of mind!! Get moving!! There has to be an elementary school near by. Walk in and say, "I'm here to help", you'll have a job before you know it. Sit in a chair and listen to that shy little boy read, or help the speech impaired girl gain confidence by sharing your story. My husband Joe was diagnosed in 1977 the day Elvis died. There were definitely remission periods over the years, but since 1993 he has used some sort of motorized device for mobility. He is now considered a quadriplegic and is in a motorized chair. He taught school until 2000 and has written a book on the history of the civil war (using the hunt and peck method). Having petty good use of his right hand is the saving grace. We have ups and downs but each day is fun. That's the way we roll. We don't dwell on the what could have been and do what we want most days just a bit different than most would do it. Joe did a video in 2010 for the National MS society. You can find it by googling We Keep Moving and looking for the Winter Garden Florida piece. We have had a great life and Joe still works two days a week. We feel lucky we have had these years to adapt and move into all of the necessary changes to keep moving. People in an accident come home being quads, we were allowed to grow into this living our life "normally". Anything is possible if you Keep Moving!!! Stay positive and keep a good attitude.

Hi Jayne - I'm new here too. I took up ukulele recently. It's only got 4 strings and it's easy to play. You can learn 3 or 4 chords and play a multitude of songs. In my community there are groups of people from beginner to intermediate who get together and play. Doesn't matter how bad you are which is good for me. : ) I enjoy it and it's a nice outlet to interact with others doing something fun. There are probably groups near you. I took a couple of lessons from someone just to get the general feel of it and that's all it took to get started. I'm not an artist but I'm thinking about taking up painting next. I can't draw a straight line with a ruler or a stick man so this should be interesting!
