I have an air conditioned home and car. If I am doing outside activities I have cooling products thanks to msaa. I just try and stay cool without limiting what I want and like to do.

I'm the same with Kenu. I received cooling products from MSAA years ago and I am still using them. So very very grateful.

I keep my house at about 65 to 72 and only leave if I have to when it is warm. I chose to live in the Pacific Northwest west of the Cascades for this reason.

No help from msaa so I sweat!!

Bodega1939 in reply toMomjules

Dear Momjules, I receive my injectables in boxes with cool packs by mail from the VA. I will use the cool packs to put into pockets of an overshirt or vest type thing I have yet to conjure up. It just gets too hot here in the summer but thankfully not for many days. The heat just wipes me out.

I used to live in Coos Bay, OR. That was a perfect spot for me and I loved it everyday and in every weather!! You are so lucky to be out there.

I did not have cooling products. I recently received them and will use them this summer.

Altering my schedule would be my first choice were it offered! I stay indoors in the AC during the hottest, sunniest part of the day. Outdoor activities take place in the morning or very late afternoon.

Bodega1939 profile image
Bodega1939 in reply togoatgal

Sounds like exactly what we all should be doing. I dread the thought of being in my 20 year old Honda or Tundra without AC on a long trip or short trip. Cripes. Maybe I'll just spray myself and let the water evaporate.

I stay home, like always. I put my feet in a little cool water . I dress more cotton. This year i plan to buy a fan. I will apply for cooling vest but i do not know how.

I soak my feet as well to cool off. I also add epsom salt and peppermint oil to the water to cool off faster.

I also received a cooling vest from MSAA. My stepson is a swimmer and competes and it is a blessing to have as I'm outside most of the time. I also have a small fan that I wear around my neck that I use, I got that from Walmart around 6 bucks and it works great for me.

Thank you for the feedback on our Cooling Distribution program, LissaH ! Glad you are able to support your stepson in his outside events now.

What are cooling products?

I live where it is mostly cool but cooling me off has been an issue for years. Just getting into the sun and walking is a problem. Now I can't walk unless I have Ampyra and the walk has to be really short. Other people love heat and I used to when I was young...did lots of swimming. But now it is an issue.

Tell me about cooking products, please. How they work and what are your favorites?

Nemaste.

I have 2 different cooling products. One is a cooling vest. It looks like a fishing vest. Holds 5 ice packs. I love it. I've had it several years now. The 2nd is an undervest. I got it this spring and I still have to really put it to the test. To know how much I can do while in the heat.

Polar makes some of the products I have used (and I love them all) but there are a few wearable ice packs that last several hours on amazon or at drug stores. A frozen wet washcloth on the back of your neck will help also.

I just looked at the application form. I make so little money there is no tax information. I can send the information about my ""ss ïncome". I think I can make a "vest" with pockets to put the little white freezer bags in...the VA sends some of my medicine with that type of coolant. I will think about this. I am doing the MS Walk in about 2 weeks. I will absolutely need something for that. Thank you for the information. Hugs, Bodega

I think I will get in touch with you-all sometime next week or the next. The MSWalk is this next Saturday so too soon for me to make a vest as I will be showing (and hopefully selling) some of my acrylics and helping the gallery as much as I can.

I meant to say this art stuff is this week and I will be so darned tired I won't be able to do any overtime. I think I am confusing the issue. i'll be quiet now!

I use to make cooling ties they are easy to make. I store them in the fridge during the summer. Remember to wash all cooling items after use. You can throw them in the washer for 2-3 min NO BLEACH!!

like several others, I use cooling products, air conditioning in my home, fans and make sure my car's AC if in good working order. Also, I try to do any outdoor activities in morning or evening when it's cooler. I do indoor activities when hot out. When I feel really wiped out and overwhelmed by the heat, I soak my feet in cool water with epsom salt and peppermint oil...cools me down real quick.

I cool off by running the garden hose on myself.

When I volunteer I wear the cooling vest from MSAA. I’ve been told it looks like a flack jacket. It sure works well!

I mainly stay in my air conditioned home. I live in Northern California valley where the summer temperatures soar into 100’s so my neurologist has forbidden me from going out past 10 am. I need to fill out a form to get cooling products from MSAA.

This year I want a TAN!!! I carry cool packs, ice and cold water. Wear light clothing and stay hydrated. My kids are in baseball and softball so I've been outside ALOT so far watching practices and games. I try to be around people that know of my condition incase something happens. ❤🌷

Hi johnMSAA

When I was first dx with MS MSAA helped me with cooling gear. I am very appreciative of their help! It was much needed for I am heat intolerant. I use air-conditioning wherever I CAN. Plus I always have insulated cups and liners for cold drinkage I bring with me everywhere I travel. Popsicles and freezies work also

Thank you for all you do at MSAA

I voted for cooling products because I relied heavily on them to do normal things for about 3 years. I used a neck wrap just to dry my hair or if my shower had been too hot (air dry the hair then) I would wear one and wait 30min until I felt alive again, I had some cute fingerless gloves with ice in the wrists I used while driving, the fabulous polar vest for long walks in the sun, and I wore one around my waist at work and changed it out at lunch and before driving home in the hot car. I’ve been a broken record about this, but maybe a newbie out there doesn’t know that heat can be managed. I use to check the weather a lot too so I could be prepared. Oh, and I had no shame/concern/fear in wearing any of it in public.

I received the cooling belt from MSAA! Best invention ever! I use that when I'm taking the dog for a walk. And Alice the A.C. are best of friends!☺️ 🤗💕
