New Year, New Resolution

As 2017 begins, many of us reflect on the year that’s past and look ahead at what we want in the new one. Often, this includes health and fitness goals – the healthier food we plan to cook, the new exercise routine we intend to start, or a new self-care practice such as an art class or meditation – we’d like to accomplish in the coming year.

However, all too often we stop there, without digging deeper to plan for the future of our health. We may make sure that we have our newest insurance card in our wallet, but otherwise, our healthcare planning ends with those resolutions we made.

This year, we think everyone should also make sure they have an emergency, critical advance care plan – one that is digital, easily accessible and provides all the tools you need to communicate your healthcare wishes, should you ever be in a situation in which you cannot speak for yourself.

Our MyDirectives MOBILE™ App allows you to digitize your voice, thoughts, and most importantly your healthcare wishes in a way that is easily accessible anywhere in the world. If you’re an iPhone user, you can populate your plan in the Medical ID app on your phone — which gives doctors access to vital information, even from your lock screen.

So, while you’re preparing for 2017, don’t stop with new fitness or food goals, consider taking another step for your health – create an advance care plan and discuss it with your loved ones as you visit them over the holidays.

We’re wishing everyone the best in the new year, and hope 2017 brings you all happiness and good health.
