I reckon it's ok to use steroid cream for shortest time possible to get the flare under control, then step down to less potent to maintain skin. If infected, make sure you get either oral antibiotics or an antibiotic cream or wash to get it under control xx

If it’s infected get an antibiotic cream. Steroid creams even at low doses can damage your body in ways you would never imagine. Please google topical steroid addiction or red skin syndrome and you will read the hell it can be. Some have gotten addicted in as little as a week. Be well and speedy recovery

Yeh that's my worry. I did ask the doctor but they said to use steroid cream once a while. Steroid has already done enough damage ony skin I was thinking of applying argan oil topically as it is rich in vitamin e?

Doctors would always say not to use steroid cream for long, but once you stop - problem comes back, so what to do? Dermatologist will say - let's prescribe a stronger one, and then you'll notice, previous 'weaker' steroid is no longer working as it used to ! Now you have developed Topical steroid addiction (TSA) !

Dermatologists often try with Pimecrolimus (1% w/w) - this also does not work for most people, this is supposed to be an alternative treatment of steroid cream.

I am not sure there is any solution. Addiction or not - there has to be something that can control itching, redness and flaky things - I have not found any, so I wish you good luck. Please share your story if you find any non-steroidal and yet effective treatment in the end.
