hiya, i was literally diagnosed yesterday after 10+ years of chronic pain. Im only 25 and ive been referred to the chronic pain management team, im just wondering what to expect? Ive been on all sorts of pain meds over the years, but nothing has ever touched the sides.

will i have to start all over again or will they take it into consideration that these meds havent worked for me?

I just feel a bit overwhelmed having more than one chronic illness, im too young for this! I have a history with medication and the whole thing is making me anxious, i also have POTs and im worried strong meds may give me a flare up. Ive no idea what to expect, any and all advice/personal stories are welcome!

My experience of pain clinics is that each doctor you see has a different approach rather than a clinic wide policy. If one doc puts you on lots of meds another will try removing them, largely to try and get a better picture. They may put you on something you've already tried but at a higher dose. I finally got an MRI of my neck from a pain clinic, I'd had migraines since childhood and chronic migraines for 20 years.

Ultimately I'm on no meds for fibromyalgia because nothing works that well, but at least I know they tried! I've had chronic pain since childhood too. It sucks!
