my brother is having chemo and we have booked to go to spain in 2 weeks do you think we can still go even though hosp does not advise ?
The question you need to ask the hospital is why don't they advise it? If your brother is likely to be immune supressed then perhaps you could ask for a short break from chemo so he can enjoy his time out. Our daughter had a break from all the medication for 3 weeks and we took her to America (Disney in Florida) as a wonderful holiday of a lifetime. It gave us all a huge boost, emotionally, and I believe helped tremendously with her resiliance.
Hospitals usually err on the side of caution in case of a complaint, so I would discuss their reasons more deeply. I do hope you can go & have a lovely holiday.
I don't think I have anything to add to the first two answers. That is exactly what I would say. Happiness can be very restorative. I would add, if you go to Spain, start him on a course of a very good probiotic before you go. You can order them from the Penny Brohn shop, in case a change of food upsets his stomach. Good Luck!
