Tonight on BBC 1 at 9 p.m. a documentary about the health benefits (or not) of eating meat. I have given up meat except for the odd bit of mail order grass fed when I can afford it but my mother who had breast cancer twice - in her 40's and again in her 90's absolutely loved her meat. I remember saying to her once 'but vegetarians live longer" and her reply was 'yes, but is it worth it?" radiotimes.com/tv-programme...

The nutritionist our support group works with is not a veggetarian but would always recommend organic meat, knowing where it is sourced and small amounts. She particularly promotes the benefits of liver and bone broth.

Some people with cancer are on low residue diets - myself at the moment - and therefore meat is one of the few things we can eat and get nutrition/energy from, not being able to eat healthy food like veg/fruiy/ wholefoods.

Sounds an interesting programme.

Have to admit still have to find time to watch the programme but what I have found drawn to is 'The Retreat' which is has been on this week and available to watch again via BBC iplayer. Well worth a watch and very similar dietary advice to that I have received from Penny Brohn and The Haven - read how the programme came about......telegraph.co.uk/men/thinkin...
