I miss People..

Today I was at a store and I saw two coworkers giggling over a snack that they were excited to come in. A new flavor or something. Then one said to the other "Wait don't forget the muffins in the break room, Want you to get one before they run out." They started to chatter more and went on there way. It just made me think: I miss people at work.

I started working at 14. I loved it. Well it was a love/hate relationship. I continued to work in the customer service industry. The break up wasn't mutual. A year and some change before the relapse that put me out of work for good I found a great paying job. It was a little taxing mentally but on a physical level well that was taxing too. I had the weirdest things to do sometimes, For instance I was assigned to pound with a mallet and an anvil to put all the apartment numbers on the spare sets of keys, to make them look better I guess? Not the point. It was a good job, I was able to interact with people closer or help them with their computer or put on a shoe it was awesome.

I miss having a goal every day to accomplish that is outside my house. I miss having side conversations about other crazy jobs or customers that we have encountered that would give us a chuckle from either the mundane or chaotic day, depending on the time of year and where I worked. Have you ever seen people fight over rock salt, pre-Pandemic? I have. Not that it's good to do but it is a little comical to watch! 🀣 I've even seen a man walk in with a goat on a rope walk into a big box store in the middle of South Philadelphia! I even got to feed the goat.

I miss people.

I'm not saying it was all bad, I had moments that meant the world to me. Customers who would find out I worked at a different job later from the one they met me at originally and would come too my store and talk to me and ask how I was. Not in a creepy way, just nice that a stranger remembered you for something nice you may have done for them once. πŸ˜„

I need to start volunteering or something because I miss people.

(Hopefully this helps someone who is going through the same thing as me kinda just stuck at home life flipped upside down or maybe just made you smile when you think of a goat on a rope 🐐.)

Definitely smiled at the goat on a rope πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚ I know what you mean about having goals. I'm limited by life and health but have found having a pet (or multiple in my case lol) has given me a focus and joy, and also a snuggle on days I can't do/move much hehe.

I use to work retail too and love hearing stories from other people who've experienced the weird and wonderful shoppers in their natural habitat haha.

Hope you are well ☺️
