Just curious as daylight hurts my eyes even when it is overcast. Do any of you have brown eyes as I wonder if this problem is due to
If you suffer from migraine then sensitivity to light is normal as part of the symptoms.if you are sensitive to light all the time I,m not sure if that is migraine related as mine only happens during an attack. You are correct in saying that the lighter your eyes the more sensitive to light they are even without migraine so this may make it worse I guess. Hope this helps !
i have dark brown eyes and when have migraine on way have to wear sunglasses when it is overcast.
a greater occipital nerve injection works well for it!
I have fairly dark blue eyes, but they are often quite watery and I always have photophobia when I get a migraine or bad headache. I was very interested to hear Rosianna say that the Greater Occipital Nerve Injection helps this as I have been advised to have one but have been very put off by a lot of negative comments I've been reading on this forum from people who have had bad experiences. Wondering now if the jab has any effect on sensitivity to sound which I also get during migraines (I can hear a clock ticking three rooms away, whereas I'm normally accused of having poor hearing!)
yes pattipan the GON will help you BUT you do need calcium tablets with it and it does have long term affects on the endicrine system if you have them too often for too long.
my endocrinologist recommends an injection a maximun of every 3 months to avoid steroid induced adrenal insufficiency from long term use!!
i couldnt live without my injections though!!!!!!
have you read up on the national migraine centre site about them??
Thanks for your reply Rosianna. Luckily I already take calcichew tablets six days out of seven as I have Osteoporosis, but when I've had steroid jabs in the past for shoulder problems, I wasn't warned about any calcium or adrenal problems. I've read various official migraine sites on the subject of GON but will double-check I've seen the NMC one.
Check your your thryoid also, as one of the symptoms can be sensitivity to light, and all part of the autoimmune spectrum. Mary F x
Hi, I have dark brown eyes and I am very sensitive to light when I don't have migraines. Light sensitivity can be a major migraine trigger for me (so it isn't just a symptoms of migraine you can have it as a separate condition which will effect your migraine). I can suggest prescribed sun glasses and if you wear glasses do an eye light sensitivity test and get tinted glasses. Check this link
