Yes this is the way we currently go about medication. We recommend you book an appointment with your GP for soon after your appointment with us so that you can start treatment straight away.

We are looking into dispensing the most common medications at the clinic, but this is proving more difficult in terms of security and legal issues than we first thought. We will keep patients informed however if we do eventually succeed in becoming a 'one-stop' shop for migraine!

Oh a one stop migraine shop would be amazing! Would it ever be possible for Doctors to write a private prescription if a patient wanted the meds immediately (and they weren't too expensive), or an appointment with a GP wasn't immediately available? But I know Triptans are very expensive....

It depends on the medication. Some treatments can only be authorised by, I think, consultants. Professor Peter Goadsby once recommended me a treatment used on the continent (which I refused because of the possible side effects) but he would have had to order them because my GP would not have been able to. Maybe the situation has changed now.

when i found out via Boots Pharmacy that Imigran worked for me, as it was £8 per 2 tabs back then and you only got 2 tablets, he told me to get them on prescription as you get 6 for £7 what ever it's gone up to now. The only downside is that you don't get the little cases that you do with the 2 packs and they little plastic cases are rather useful, i really ought to write to imigran and see if they will send me some cases as mine are getting a little old and broken now.

Not what you're looking for?
