Any success coming off pitzotifen?? Rebound problem

Hi guys, I got noritryptiline from my doctor and so just waiting to hear from my specialist how to switch from my SSRI to that.

I was wondering if anyone here took pitzotifen for several years and then stopped it successfully?? I'm really struggling as when ever I try I get the worst vestibular migraines (well worse than my everyday ones!). They for 3 years have made it life hard as im extremely drowsy everyday on them no matter how much sleep I get. Also 3 stone weight gain is upsetting. therefore, my hope is that once I've got the noritryptiline in my system and then withdraw pitzotifen it won't be so bad. Would be great to hear of any success stories coming off it. Thanks so much xxx

I had success with Pitzotifen for around a year when I took it years ago. Tried it again last year and did nothing. Don't remember any problems coming off it though. Just coming off Noritryptiline now and unfortunately nothing from that either, despite high dose of 70mg.

Hi I have successfully come off pizotifen. I also gained too much weight and was the main reason for coming off it as I was having real psychological issues with the weight gain. I've been off for a few weeks now. I did go into withdrawals such as tremors, headaches, etc but I 've decided to pay for accupuncture at the Chinese doctor. So far with the Chinese doctor we've discovered that the muscles in my neck being very tight have been reducing blood supply to brain causing pain up my neck and migraines. Loosening this with massage and accupuncture is helping. I also felt like o couldn't see properly and had black marks in my vision since coming off pizotifen but the accupuncture seems to have made that go too so I'm guessing that was lack of blood supply too. Really hoping not to go back on tablets as they have so many side effects. Stress is also said trigger for myself so I'm trying to keep stress levels as low as I can . I hope you find this helpful.

Hi Michmina!

Thanks so much for your message and for sharing your experience, it is really helpful. I'm really sorry to hear that you too, gained too much weight and had subsequent psychological issues due to it. You are not alone xxxx it's really hard to cope with. Sorry to hear also that you had withdrawal but it's great to hear that your Chinese doctor has been helping with acupuncture and loosening your muscles. I will also look into this. I do hope you continue to improve now that you are off them and having alternative therapies. Keep me posted! Xx
