It would be helpful to know what you have tried? And where you are - are you in the UK? Also are you under neuro care, or just your GP?

as far as getting rid of pain when migraines happen triptans work the best and rizatriptan also called maxalt mlt works the best of the triptans and melts in your mouth which is convenient if your out and about. as far as preventatives that seems to vary from person to person.

it depends how often you get Migraine and how severe they are, as to your treatment. Have you been to see a neurologist who specialises in headaches? I see a neurologist who is a leading specialist in this field, his clinics cover the whole of the southwest of England and the bottom half of Wales. His clinic is very over subscribed, I receive Greater Occipital Nerve injections every 3 months at his clinic he has specialist Nurses that lead the clinic. It comprises of a nerve block and works really well, some patients have them more often some less it really depends on the individual. I also have had medication called Topiramate, which I found to be very helpful, as I have been on it for over 4 years I am just taking a break at the moment which is why my injections have increased to every 3 months, before I might have one a year! I am having this treatment because I suffered migraine everyday for over a year without any break in the symptoms.

Maybe you need a review of treatment or need to be fully assessed by a neurologist.

Hope this helps good luck!
