Am I imagining it or is a sensitive scalp common during a migraine?
Sensitive scalp: Am I imagining it or... - National Migraine...
Sensitive scalp
Hi Shazzer1976 .....i get that all the time too. I find magnesium helps ease it.
Happens to me too. I believe it has to do with our sensitive nerves
I have had the same. Last year my migraines were intense and almost daily.
My scalp was really itchy constantly. I started using SBC propolis bath soak as shampoo & it has worked wonders. Plus my hair is really soft.
Hope you find something that helps.
Cheers.
Yep I get the same.....it gets even more sensitive if I take Triptan meds for the migraine!
Yes me too
Me too. If I take Sumatriptan every bit of skin on my body becomes sensitive. If I wash my hands or have a bath I feel like I'm being scalded. It is to do with nerve endings Im told as someone said earlier.
Thanks. I don't take Triptans because my my raynauds. The peculiar thing is the treatment I take for my raynauds usually stop my visual migraines but yesterday I think a sudden change in the weather caused a painful migraine. I could only take paracetamol and take to bed!
My scalp hurts so much I can't shower, it is too painful. I even cut my hair 2 summers ago..that didn't help either😿. I have allodynia from the top of my head to the tip of my toes and weather makes it worse ( the nerve pain in our skin ). Low barometric pressure and windy days make it flare and it is usually accompanied by bad nausea, frequently without any head pain. In the summer I have this awesome knit tank dress that feels light as air and it is one of the few garments that doesn't cause me more pain..clothing hurts😱
How interesting - I get this with my scalp, too! I get a crawling nerve neuralgia feeling over my scalp and at other times it keeps itching and sometimes it's sore to the touch eg when washing hair. Have had it for years and think it ties in with when my chronic migraine problem started!
Sorry to hear about yours, Meggietye
