I have found that massage therapy works for me both with the migraines and stress. I am going to see if there is such a thing as having massages on the NHS

Hi , just out of interest what type of massage do you have ? And does it have a lasting effect of more than one day ? Thanks

I have shoulder neck and head massage using hot stones. And yes unbelievably I haven't had a migraine now for 5 days which is unheard of in the past year. It was only by off chance I went as I am on holiday and was in agony. I went and enquired and was told if it was tension migraine it would be worth a try. After the first one ( half an hour) I got off the table and the pain had gone. He said my shoulder muscles had been as hard as rocks. The next day I woke up pain free but the following morning woke up with the usual signs of a day long migraine, it lasted till lunchtime. That evening I had another massage and woke up the following day and the day after without pain but could feel, the sights that night and woke up the next morning with a dull head .. What I call the tight clamp on my head but not the normal pain ..I went again that evening and haven't had one since.. I have one booked in for tonight as I go home tomorrow. I am absolutely thrilled that I may have found my cure. I came off all meds a month ago under the advice of my neurologist and really did go through hell the first couple of weeks. Keeping my fingers crossed and going to make it my mission when I get back to see if I can have something similar on the NHS.

Not so common nowadays but I used to have more days in the month with migraine than without - the migraines would recede with triptans but would come back within 24 hours when the triptan wore of - so you certainly aren't alone.
