How many of you has spoken to your GP about having an ECG? A possible risk hole in the heart (PFO). Migraine since I was a child.

Hi there Vivante......during all my root cause investigations for my migraines one of the tests I was given was a heart bubble test which was where they delibeately inject fizzy water into the vein & follow it via ultrasound.......didn't pick anything up for me (which is a good thing!) but they hadn't long started doing it in my area & had found 1-2 people that it was a possible cause for

Hi I have had all the above and when I got taken in for angina and they found out I had Hemaplegic migraine , that was it I has the thing done in the groin and fed a wire up to the heart and also had the test where they put the scope down your throat and put water into the heart to see if there is a hole . Sorry got fibro fog today can't remember names of things today . Anyway I did not have a hole so that was that .they can say there is a link and it can effect you and May course migraine . X

Jan and Elliot, thank you for replying. Jimmy Osmond had the same as you Jan. I have had both an angiogram and a trans-echo. With the angiogram, the liquid is known as the iodine containing contrast medium, it is also used for detecting kidney cancer. Both of the treatments cause flushing. For the heart, the catheter was placed in my groin area.

The trans echo, I swallowed a probe. I had that done twice, my cardio did not receive results from them , a second was done in another hospital. I have congenital heart disease, a PFO. I suffered from migraine since I was a child, tried all manner of treatments, nothing helped. Surgery was done in Guys. No more migraine. I had the Maze lll procedure also.

Speak to your GP again. Ask for an ECG. If you under 40, contact the Migraine centre, speak to them about tests. If you can afford to get the tests done privately, do so. The term is known as a PFO. Push for further tests re-the heart. I hope you will get some results soon. Look for Atrial Septal Defect.
