one gets you specialist LD services and the other gets you nothing. Why is this?

It was once explained to me that 70 or above is only considered borderline disability. I guess there has to be a criteria cut off somewhere

I know an IQ of 69 is low and I have this IQ myself diagnosed by the LD psychologist. Does this IQ mean significant disability? I’m currently in Sri Lanka for 26 days, would this IQ mean difficulties for me? I think they misdiagnosed me? My psychiatrist says it’s not in my interest to have another test.

69 would be considered a mild disability. Difficulties maybe with complex tasks, but able to manage most daily tasks. Enjoy Sri Lanka, don't stress yourself.

If your able to go to Sri Lanka on your own, definitely nothing to worry about I would say

My Daughter,s IQ came out at 70, no help what so ever, but went on to be diagnosed, ADHD, Autism, Sensory processing, acute anxiety, PNES, PTSD Speech and language disabilities, and after being Sectioned she came out of the Priory pontypridd with PTSD, This needs to be investigated on a national scale.

You are correct. IQ does not reflect ability to look after yourself or establish that there aren’t other factors causing disability in need of support. IQ should not be being used to define what help is needed. Look at the Care Act which lists the domains of assessment, it does not mention IQ.

Wiltshire Community Living team disregarded my daughters Learning difficulties due to her IQ being 70, She had a dreadful time in school, abusive care homes, and Winterbourne View type Hospitals, She will never be the fun loving dancing queen she was, So Dreadfully Traumatised Now!

You are referring to two different things here. IQ is a measure of cognitive ability and is used to define degrees of learning disability. Learning difficulties are entirely different, they are literally difficulties with learning - so things like dyslexia. They are not mutually exclusive.

So she should have been referred to an Occupational Therapist to find answers! but in fact she was 40 years of age when she eventually saw one, and was diagnosed, High and definite Sensory Processing disorder along with Autism, she had a dreadful time at School and left with Acute anxiety.

If you can afford it, I would recommend getting an Independent Social Worker’s report.
