Did anyone see anyting about Paddy McGuinness yesterday? He was challenged for parking in a disability parking space, even though his children have a Blue Badge. Has anyone else had similar problems? I know I have :(

Yes, I once was getting out of the car with my LD daughter, and got verbal abuse for being in a disabled space... I just smiled sweetly and apologised for forgetting to put the badge up, then thanked him for reminding me. He drove away!😊

Oh I'm so sorry to hear you've been challenged for parking. I would feel very angry if that was me. Why does negative attitudes still exist. What actions have you taken since the incident?

I’ve had a blue badge for 10 years, for me it was fairly easy-it went to tribunal I was represented by two professionals who knew me very well,15 minutes in the three tribunal people said it should never have got this far and gave me a lifetime high care and mobility award (leading to the automatic blue badge).

and probably in all that time my car (ie two support staff, now one most of the time) has been targeted three times,in Manchester.

once-because we were all to young and younger adults can’t be disabled lol,the second-because we looked to young again, and guess what, the third because we looked to young but this guy asked my staff to show him the other side of the badge (photo),they showed it him and he went off ranting about us being too young.

I’ve luckily never had my LD,autism etc questioned,i have the other side to this-people notice me more easily and shout the r word at me a lot,to the point I have to take extra PRN medication just to go into certain places/areas.

online is very different, everyone’s a doctor,so annoying! when ignorant people compare me to their young child,or someone tells me I can’t have LD or severe autism because I can type sentances (they don’t know what went on before hand to reach that ability, which shows never judge a person cause you don’t know what they gone through and what they go through every day just to function).

Hello. thanks for replying to my post. I don't think people understand that you can be young and need a blue badge. Glad you have one, but it's so bad that you had to got to a tribunal. Awful.

People are so quick to judge on how you look. Wish people took a moment just to think abotu how their's actions affect other people. There is never an excuse for calling names - it is bullying.

I hope you are ok.
