Hi I need to become the LPA for my adult daughter with LD. All looks very confusing online. Don't know where to start?

Hello Puzzled1
LPA's can seem daunting because all the legal language is unfamiliar. I have sympathy.
Here are a few good resources that (hopefully) aren't as confusing as some of the other things you have seen:
mencap.org.uk/making-decisi...
mencap.org.uk/sites/default...
There are also deputyships - if your daughter is not able to consent (understand and give permission) for the LPA then a deputyship might suit your family better.
A good starting point would be to call our Learning Disability helpline so that they can have a chat with you. You can email on helpline@mencap.org.uk.
You might also be able to find a local solicitor who will see you for a free initial appointment. However, there will be a cost to actually set an LPA or deputyship up.
Please let us know how you get on
Cheers
Sarah
Hi, just joined this community. Did you get it sorted?
Have you got Power of Attorney POA for your daughter's Health and Welfare and Finances and Affairs?
